I just tried some new (well, new to me I havent seen them before) 36gr 1600+ fps .22lr's today. Wow, noticably louder, noticable increased recoil and smoke, but also noticably more fun in my MkIII hunter. Shot 100 rds. of them, I started mixing them in the mags with 1350fps winchester HP's and some bulk pack federal, HUGE difference. I was shooting some silouhettes<sic> and CCI's really banged 'em hard compared to the other ammo. It seemed to me, seat of the pants, that this ammo might be getting into centerfire pistol power range! Their kinda expensive compared to other .22's but I wont buy anything else now (5.00 a box of 50), Jus thought I'd mention it!

Actually, those are called Stingers or SHP, not Mini-Mags.
Yes, they are the "magnum loads" for the .22LR.
Fun stuff!
The Stinger case is every-so-slightly longer than a normal .22LR case to squeeze in a little more powder.
Some .22LR chambers are a little too short or tight to safely use this ammo.
Stingers in most modern guns like your Mk3 should be no problem, some manufacturers do warn against them and other "hyper-velocity" ammo, though.
In older (actually any / all) guns, always check the first few rounds of Stingers fired for any signs of high / over pressure...sticky extraction, bulged case, split case at mouth.

Yep. You'll need a new buffer & recoil spring as a backup tho...
Stingers are a bit hot for the rifle and cause premature wear on the $5 part.
But that's it. As long as you keep a pair of each on hand for backups, you'll be set.
Anything built Pre-1968 will probably have issues with Stingers.
Most rifles pre-1968 were made for Standard Velocity rounds...they often
have issues with High Velo, definitely with Hyper-Velo Stingers/Yellowjackets.Marlin Specialist

Yes.
Some people replace the steel cross pin with a nylon-type pin as a shock absorber or buffer.
I just keep the recoil springs fresh myself.
( Good info / post from Big Shrek).

i leave the googling up to you, but i think 1400 fps is the bottom range of "hyper-velocity". which is not recommended by ruger in the mk3.
i shot one box of winchester supreme hypervelocity and my lci broke off.Comment

Yeah, those Aguila rounds are pretty sweet. Put a bunch of them through a .22LR converted 1911. Nice kick for such a little package.
