depends on what type of firearm you are going to use it in.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

you can have and use them as long as YOU OWNED THEM before
        the ban.

there is no law that prohibits you from using a large-capacity magazine in a rimfire rifle. But if you have a semi-automatic rimfire pistol, you can't have a fixed mag of more than 10 rounds installed.

You can use them. Just don't say you owned a 15-22 high cap magazine before the ban (since the gun came out in 2009).

You could very well have owned hi-cap magazines before the ban and saved them. and then used them on a rifle purchased today. Burden of proof.

Anyhow... I want to use a detachable pre-ban hi cap mag on a 10/22 with a tapco intrafuse stock. Is this a no-no? Not sure if it matters since its a rimfire and not a centerfire.

              Thanks guys.

If it is a rimfire long gun, then it is exempt from the AW laws. However rimfire handguns are not.

Also you rimfire rifles with non-detachable tube magazines are exempt from the high-cap laws.
