    10/22 Folders Old and New

I got this old school wood and metal folding stock off a Cal Gunner last week.
It cleaned up pretty nice with some elbow grease, sandpaper, steel wool and walnut stain.
I had a old 10/22 here that was about the same vintage as the stock, so together they went.

The plastic-and-stainless more modern folder below the old timer is actually an old timer, too.
This one is a no-name from before Butler Creek bought the tooling and put their name on it.

Seemed a photo comparison was appropriate.

Who's got one of those Fed Ordnance underfolders?

What are the approximate lengths folded?

My BC style folded would measure 25" OAL if I was to put a 16" barrel on it.
It could be shorter than the current BC folder production.
The ones in the photos are both with a 18" barrel so they measure just over 27" OAL. (27 1/16" for woody, 27 1/8" for the BC style).
Many Ruger 10/22 stock kits were designed with only the 18" barrel in mind to meet the minimum required OAL, as only 18" barrels were sold back then.
Now that the Ruger Compact 10/22 is available with a 16" barrel, you have to be careful that you do not create a SBR by accident.
Always double check OAL and stay legal!

I used to have a folder on my 10/22, with a 16" barrel. Added a flash supressor to make the OAL legal when folded.

the bottom one probably came with the amt lightning 25/22 (10/22 clone)

search the metal on the wood one and you will probably find a rams head stamp its an early ramline i believe
