    Marlin 80-DL Bolt Action

    Hey All,

I just inherited a Marlin 80-DL .22 rim fire, bolt action rifle (the one with a magazine) from my grandfather. It's been in a rifle-sock case and under his bed for probably 30 years...

Anyone know how to disassemble the bolt for a good thorough cleaning?

Anything else I should check up on prior to test-firing it?

Would dry firing this rifle hurt it at all?

    Thanks!

Don't disassemble the bolt, it is hard to put back together. Just give everything a good spray down and soak with Rem Oil.

Don't dry fire it, you could damage the firing pin and getting a replacement is hard. Use a snap cap or used (check it is used!) 22 brass instead.

These are great rifles, I used to have one and they are super accurate. Any good 22LR ammo should work fine with it. Try CCI Mini Mags, they are very accurate and reliable.

Just shot and zeroed the iron sights today. This is a fun rifle. I may take it on my future backpacking trips for some target shooting/plinking.
