Sig 522 SWAT owners please read

I bought a Sig 522 a month ago and when I went to the range to zero in the sights I noticed that where the front rail matched up with the receiver was off a bit. As I sighted in the rifle I had to adjust the rear sights all the way to the left just to get it to shoot straight (using Mapul BUS front and rear sights). I feel that if I am spending over $600 for a rifle from a well know company, the front rail should match up better. I took the rifle in and spoke to the FFL who I bought it from. He had another 522 SWAT in stock and it was off also. I checked another local gun shop who had the rifle in stock, and theirs was off too. Do any other 522 SWAT owners have this same problem? Should I sent it back to Sig?

    Hmmm,

I have the exact same set up as yours. Yes the front rail is very slightly off on mine, but not as much as yours. Mine shoots straight with minor adjustment to the sights. Make sure your MBUS's are correctly spaced apart (see the installation instruction sheet that came with your sights).

I just chucked the SIG red dot sight on mine. I'll give you a range report later.

Your front sight should be mounted forward in the DOVETAIL not on the
rail. That is how I configured mine and my rail did not line up right either.
Also the MI sights I bought were DEAD ON after mounting(just a little low
when shooting @ 35 yds and I did have to file down my front sight just
a little, to raise the POI. Pete

Ive never looked at how the sig is put together or if its a free float rail or how it bolts up ect But if its the same as like an AR with a rail mounted front sight and the rail is crooked it will effect the front sight. If you get the rail straight everything will line up fine.

Does this help? I found it while browsing the Sig 556 Forums:

I'll have to check tbh. I own a sig 522 SWAT mounted a ML2 aimpoint red dot using the Quick disconnect rail. It was off down/left about 1" each way, but I was able to get it adjusted up just fine for 45 yard shots on the range.

I picked up my 522 SWAT today, as far as I can tell, the rails match up.

I thought I would also mention since I hadn't seen it anywhere else, apparently Sig ships the rifles with the charging handle in the pistol grip, I just about had a heart attack when I was about to load my first magazine and saw I couldn't pull the bolt back I also put about 80 rounds of mini mags and 140 rounds of Rem Gold Bullets as a test, only 2 FTEs out of the GBs and of course no issue with the mini mags. Man I love this thing, I think I'm going to order 6 more magazines next paycheck so I don't have to wait so long to shoot it
