    Single Six

Does Turners ever have Ruger Single Six on sale. Been wanting to pickup a western revolver for plinking and such. Who else makes decent ones. I'm not sure and have no experience with Heritage Arms line. Thanks

I have a Heritage Arms revolver, and quite happy with it. It came with both the 22 LR and 22 mag cylinders, also came in a nice wood box. I think you would enjoy it.

I've been wondering about Heritage Arms myself. I've seen some great deals, but they sure look and feel crude compared to Ruger. I've shot the Single-Six but not a Heritage, based on fit and finish alone I'd say spring for a Ruger.

New Heritage owner here. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and accuracy or the gun. Worth every penny and then so.

I've shot both, buy the ruger. Much smoother.

Can't really compare the two real well. A 200 dollar gun and a 500 dollar gun are going to have some significant quality differences. I bought the Heritage recently (when Turners had it on sale) and for the price it's just fine. It goes bang and is reasonably accurate. The holster set from their website is pretty nice too.
If cost isn't an issue, clearly the Ruger is the way to go, but if it's just a toy buy the Heritage has real value. We have a Ruger New Blackhawk in .45 Colt which is very nicely made and we like a lot.

Keep an eye out for good used Single Sixes here in the classifieds and on Gunbroker - I bought vintage SS in the classifieds here a year ago for $275, PPT, that has a much better feel and better trigger than the Heritage I bought new from Turner's at the same time. Spent another $150 on a trigger and clean up job and it is still nowhere near as nice (or accurate with same ammo) to shoot. YMMV....

If you're interested in new guns, Davidson's runs sales on Rugers periodically, but you have to run across it. They don't advertise it in any way I can find.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, in practice, there is.

Davidson's runs ads in the back of shotgun news and online on the gallery of guns website. You can sign up for e-mail updates from them too. I usually get a weekly e-mail from some gun they have on sale. Too bad we can't have most of them here in cali.

Find a used three screw. Can get them for 250 sometimes. Much nicer than the new model.
