    Barska Hot Magnum Scope problem

I bought this scope for my dad's Savage 93V 17hmr and he said he cannot see out of it. The sweet spot is too small. He has some minor vision problems but is corrected with glasses.

Is there a scope that has a broader viewing ability for the shooter? All he see's is black and just can't acquire the cross hairs at all.

The exit pupil may be to small. You would be needing at least a 5mm exit pupil for dads old eyes. Exit pupil is calculated as the objective size divided by the magnification. Bigger is better.

      What BSlacker said!

If the scope is not a fixed magnification...try dialing it down to 3x or 4x....that will increase the exit pupil so he should be able to see out of it. Also, be sure that the eye relief is set right. Good luck!

      example:
      40mm objective lens / 4x = 10 (Bigger exit pupil)
      40mm objective lens / 12x = 3.33 (Much smaller exit pupil)
