Hey guys so today I went to the Last Gun Shop up here in Napa to pick up my 15-22. I am now broke until next pay day so i have to improvise a little with a safe for the time being. Also i was wondering if any of you could lead me in the direction of some decent parts to up performance and to make it more aesthetically pleasing instead of all black.

S&W MP15-22 + Temporary Gun Safe

Congrats on your new rifle, have fun.
I'd suggest look at the picture thread, lotta cool mods to look at...also on the S&W site they have a 15-22 section and a ton of people from all over have posted up pics of what they've done to their 15-22's.
We have nothing to show, we put a sling adapter and sling on it and it's stock right now (yep, plain ol' black
). We have tried cheapo red dot and a cheapo 3-9x variable scope and everything has been fine. We change the sight system depending on where we're going (indoor? outdoor? longer ranges, etc.) and how we wanna shoot it.
Good fun...enjoy! -
Thanks for the info I'll defiantly check those out. One more quick question, are the cheap scope and red dots worth it or would it be better to save up and buy a somewhat decent one? Ill mainly be shooting 50-100 yards so I'm hesitant on a red dot, but i would like an illuminated scope. Thanks again for your help.Pew Pew Pew.Comment

imo fwiw...
Ya, pass on the red dot for 100yd target shootin'
afa cheapo scope, depends on how serious you are about your shooting?
I am using the 15-22 as a trainer for our boy, and ez cheap fun for both of us, compared to the AR or M1A, etc. So, for us, we aren't gonna spend hundreds on a scope for it, we'd rather spend more on the Rem 700 or the AR
Or spenmd more $$$ on ammo!
Somewhere in this section I posted pics of the sights we bought for the 22...might be on page 2 or 3 by now. You can see them there.
Anyway, if you are super serious about target shooting, I'd think you'll want to spend more and get a higher quality scope. If it's just a fun plinker...$100 should get you a illuminated Barska with rings, or something similar.Comment

Barska? Ill look into that. because i don't want to spend much more over 100$ when i could buy another gun for around the same price as some of the ones i have seen. Thanks again man.Pew Pew Pew.Comment

Found this one, reviews are all good think it would work for 50+ yards?Pew Pew Pew.Comment

Yeah, only took a bout five minutes to drill! First hole i drilled to close and the drawer could be opened to reveal what was inside so i moved it up about 3 inches and it works perfect!Pew Pew Pew.Comment

It'll work, 4x fixed is good.
It is cheap, keep that in mind. Do some research, look at the pics of the other rifles, don't jump at the first scope you look at (just $0.02 friendly advice). And I'm no expert, all I know is what we are finding acceptable for >our< shooting (that is like the disclaimer).
There are lot's of guys on this board that wil have a lot of great ideas and advice.
Practice with those stock sights too
