It would probably drive the cost of .22lr up and depending on the round might not fit in some .22lr mags.

I think the answer is because the "typical" .22lr round doesnt have the speed to make a bullet like the vmax open up/explode, and secondly the cost
and for the .22lr ammo that does almost have the speed, why not just use its cousin the .17m2 or if more speed is wanted from a rimfire step up to the .17hmr

If you want to use .22lr for game you DONT want a pointed bullet, you want a hollow point or a flat point. The pointed bullet will just pass right through the animal without causing a lot of damage.

.17hmr bullets aren't just pointed though, they have a ballistic tip that aids in expansion. But they also have a very high velocity which is key to that expansion. Not gonna happen with .22lr.

Also, the design of a .22lr projectile means it's very hard to make a jacketed bullet, which would be required if you wanted to go ahead with this idea.

also take into consideration the rimfire rifles with a tube magizine that could be hazardous with a pointed bullet , overall length restrictions of the standard mags could be another problem.

Tubular magazines are hazardous to cartridges with a pointed bullet because they are CENTERFIRE cartridges.

Rimfire wouldn't be an issue
