    Savage 64

Ok, just picked up a my new Savage 64 from Big 5 tonight. I'll clean it tomorrow and hopefully take it out to the range some time next week. I was going to buy the Marlin 795, but the salesman sold it to me at the sale price from the week before, plus a 10% coupon it worked out to be less expensive. Purchased a BSA red dot sight to go with it.
Now the question, anyone have an opinion on this gun? Looks nice and I hope it shoots nice. I shot a Marlin at the range and liked it, that's why I went in to buy one.

I really enjoy mine. and it will shoot dirty! went 20,000 rounds and only needed a little lube every 2,000 after that! at 60,000 I finally tore it apart and cleaned it. I swear the rifle was 2 pounds lighter when I finished. the only thing I didn't like was the all black sights. I fixed that with a little whiteout on the front sight. Make sure to pick up extra mags. after 10,000 rounds the feed lips get a little sharp and can cause pain while reloading.

Great, where did you pick up the mags from if I may ask? The factory one that came with the gun is quite solid, I am shocked at the quality of it.

I got my mags at big 5, as far as the sights go I took off my rear sight and put on a BSA RGB 3X9X40 on it. Best 22 for the money out there.

I have the prior model, the model 62. Works well and is very solid. More accurate out of the box than anything near the price IMHO.
