    barrel question

hello all, i just purchased a 18" GM barrel for my 10/22. i got to measuring and foud that 3/4" or the barrel is going to be recessed into the reciever. making the overall length of the barrel "outside" the reciever 17.25" does this make it illegal? i'm under the impression that the barrel has to be at least 18" and a overall rifle lenght or **" (insert what it is supposed to be because i don't know off the top of my head). any inputs on this?

Barrels are measured from the bolt face to muzzle. Close the action and drop a cleaning rod down and mark it take it out and measure. IIRC min rifle barrel length is 16". I am sure the GM barrel is legal.

shotgun needs to be 18" or more and rifle barrel needs to be 16" or more or be registered as a short barreled rifle. your is fine. DR
