    Ruger Mark III

I recently decided I wanted to purchase one of the new Ruger 22/45 pistols, P512MKIII or a KP512MKIII. The trouble is, I think the rest of SoCal decided they want one also because they are not easy to find. The few I have found are priced very high and are not either of the exact model I want.

What is the deal with the availability of these Rugers? What is the 22lr ammo supply situation? I want to start shooting my 22 rifles again as well.

The 22/45 Mk. III was recently on sale at Turners for $199.99. I bought mine then, and they were readily available.

From what I hear, .22lr ammo availability is getting better. Check your local Wally World.

ETA: Cabelas has a Father's Day special--$5 shipping on all orders over $150 til June 14. You can order eight Federal value packs (and get two free ammo boxes thrown in) for $175 shipped to your door.

I hate it when I miss a sale

      What model did you get?

Both of my choices are 5.5" bull barrel.

TY for the tip on the ammo.

I may be going there tomorrow to check out the Marlin 795 rifle they have on sale. I was there last week and they had a couple but mostly the longer barrel and the cheapest one was close to $400.

I got the 5.5" bull barrel 22/45 Mk. III. I believe it sells for under $300 normally.

KP512MKIII owner here. I got mine about 2 years ago and love it. The shop didn't have any in stock at the time and it had to be ordered. I think I paid ~425 for mine at the time.

22LR ammo situation is improving. I'm actually starting to see some back in stock at walmart on days they didn't just get a shipment in. Still yet to see a box of 45, but 9mm and 22 federal packs were bountiful last friday in my neck o the woods.

Its a great pistol. Got mine back in Nov or so anticipating my move here. Traded my P22 with threaded barrel in on her. Only thing I did not like is that the mags don't drop free, but there is a bushing kit available that helps with this..it also deactivates the mag safety disconnect.
The Walmart by my old house in Vegas was stocked with 22lr. The one here also. But I still buy about 6 bulk boxes at a time because I go through a lot. Mine hates Win Xpert 22 ammo, loves the Federal bulk

The Turner's price of $199 was a good deal. I bought a used MkIII for $220 right after the sale ended.

Anyway, 22 ammo is cheap and lighter on the wallet.

Bass pro shop will get one for you in under a week. That's what I had to do to get the model I wanted.

I know some have seen me post this before and probably think I work for the company, but I don't; buy an "Ultimate Cliploader" once you get your pistol. It makes loading the mags a breeze and your thumb won't hurt.

You can load a mag in 6 seconds or less and it will hold 100 rounds tho it says 50.

Six seconds? You're getting slow, retired.

Ditto the Ultimate Cliploader recommendation, though. Works for both Rugers and Browning Buckmark mags.

I just got my MkIII hunter 6.7inch fluted bull barrel outta jail. It's a real beauty. Paid 529 +fees and tax. I have not fired it yet, will take it out tomorrow. I just didnt like the way the mkIII 45 felt, the mk III's are HEAVY.

Get the Marlin while still available at Turners. Whole lotta fun for 150 OTD after rebate.

I purchased mine from Turners at the sale price. After a one month wait, I started the DROS on Tuesday. I'm sure Turners put a dent in the supply, so that could explain the availability.

                              P512MKIII

Talked to Turners today, they say there are 48 P521MKIII's in the warehouse. They are $299. None of the stainless KP512MKIII models.

Not sure I trust them though because I ended up buying the Marlin 795 rifle they have on sale. He said he had 20 something of them in the warehouse, then he comes back and says "how do you like the one your holding because it's the only one there is".

                              $109 after rebate.

235 hours from now it will be mine!
