    Savage BRJ Range Report

Just took my new Savage Mark II BRJ .22 with fluted bull barrel to a local range. Man, that is one smooth and straight shooting gun! Love the feel of the Accu-trigger. I didn't really get the concept until I tried it (kinda like when I first rode a Harley, LOL).
Crisp isn't the word for it, just a gentle but decisive "snap" and the lead is flying to its destination. Was able to do 1/4" groups at 50 and 100 yards, and hell, I'm not even that good of a shot! Just using a cheap-o Tasco 4X, which I'll probably trade away, as it sits too low on the receiver, and I'll need new rings anyway.
IMO, this is the best shooting, best feeling .22 I have ever shot, and I've been shooting them for 40+ years. And it sure looks fine with that "Royal Jacaranda" wood furniture!

    Savage BRJ

I'm in the market for one of these and I hope to pick it up within two weeks.
Which ammo were you using to get such great groups. I realise every rifle is different I'm just wondering what you were using.

      Hey Ridge:
Sorry I didn't see this post until now. Been away. Actually I just used a smattering of ammo which I happened to have in my ammo box. Nothing special. I'll try some of the high end stuff later and see how she does. You won't be disappointed with this gun. I'm looking for my next purchase to be the Savage Tactical 308 (FP I think). Synth stock, Accu-trigger, bi-pod lug, 24" heavy barrel, all for under $600!
Just picked up my Kel Tec SU-16CA this afternoon. Going to try it out Saturday.

I picked one up and went to the range with it. I got mostly 1 inch groups with 7 different types of ammo. I got one 3/8" group and one 1/4" group with higher end ammo at 50 yards. This is with an 18 power scope on a pair of good rests. I guess I have to keep looking for the ammo it likes to eat the best. Thanks for your reply. ........
