    Ar 22 LR question

    Hi all,
    Been lurking for some time and just signed up today.

    Im in the process of building an ar-15 and had a question about using a cmmg 22 long rife conversion. While the conversion is installed do I still need to maintain a fixed magazine, or does the rim fire exemption apply? Basically what I want to do is set it up with the cmmg conversion and have the ability to do tactical drills, which require the changing of magazines.

    Thanks

    Once it has the conversion installed you can have a detachable magazine.

    The courage to change the things I can;
    And the wisdom to know the difference.

        If you plan to use both 5.56/.223 and .22lr, you would probably want to use a 2-position magazine lock such as the Bullet-Button w/ Wonder-Wrench, Raddlock or Vamfire MLD. That way, you won't have to uninstall your magazine locking device. Just be sure you're aware of which configuration (rimfire or centerfire) you're in and what position your mag-lock is in to be California compliant. Good luck with your build and welcome aboard!

            This. Drop in a conversion bolt and give the mag lock a couple of twists with the wrench and your gtg. Twist it again to make it a bb again and take out the conversion bolt.

            GL with your build and don't get caught up on one upper, buy a couple and I'm sure the wife won't mind
