Suggestion for glass for 10/22

I just bought a 10/22 blued model. I plan on picking up an 18" Green Mountain SS bull barrel, and a Hogue overmold stock.

What's a good set of glass for this rifle without breaking the bank? I don't plan to competitive shoot or anything, but I would like something that compliments my barrel and will allow me to pick off ground squirrels with ease.

I use the Clear Ridge 3x9 Mil Dot. They also have a duplex reticle as well. About $200 I believe. I try not to get too cheap of scope even with a .22.

or no one says highly of it, but i really like the simmons hunter pro series... actually have that on my big boy and its only a $150 scope. that might be higher then what your wanting to spend, i dont know... but i will say that its the best $150 i have ever put into a scope

I have a Bushnell 3-9x40 rimfire scope that only cost me about $40 from Amazon that does one ragged hole at 25 yards with factory barrel. Extended mag release and a target hammer are also recommended for accuritizing your 22. Not the extended mag release that just makes things easy on your fingers which may overall improve your accuracy depending on ho wmany times you have to reload

I didn't want a huge scope on my 10/22 but i wanted to be able to shoot accurately out to at least 50 yards. I ended up getting a Nikon ProStaff 4x32 and I LOVE it. It goes very well with my 16" Green Mountain heavy barrel and Hogue stock. It ended up being something like $125 shipped.

I've got a 10/22 with the 20" GM barrel with a compensator, hornet trigger, and volquarsten internals. I've been using a cheap $50 scope and it is a hole in holes gun. (Newb question) what makes these high dollar scopes so much better?

if you dont like the big huge scope, dont get it, get a 40 or 44mm outer objective. i just used the 50mm on mine cause i had it lying around but i would still HIGHLY recommend simmons hunter pro series

its not necessarily the dimensions but the brand and quality of glass that will make it more or less clear. though the larger the dimensions the more light is allowed in and gives you a better picture. so you can have a 6-24x50mm scope with a crappy brand and glass and not be as clear as a quality 3-9x32mm.

I have a Mueller APV and love it. Good to 100yds. Beyond that I have this:http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Muel...p/mt852544.htm which brings them up close even at 100 yards. I have not found better prices on Mueller scopes than joeboboutfitters.com and he takes care of helping with any problems. Mueller customer service is 5 star and their lifetime warranty goes with the scope if you ever sell it. Good scopes for the money. Fully muticoated Japanese optics, assembled in China.
