Hmmm... reading my own post over.

Wouldn't someone with duo-residents in both CA and any other state be a great person to PPT handguns on the side as a side-profit?

Let say... he lives in NV but have have residents in CA also, and spend equal amount of time in both state. He buys handgun in NV, bring it into the states whenever he comes back for work reason... PPT to whoever wants it

There got to be a catch somewhere...

    Just thinking aloud.

        ND,

        I think this is what limits the "loop-hole" you envision;

        "12078 (c) (1) Subdivision (d) of Section 12072 shall not apply
to the infrequent transfer of a firearm that is not a
handgun by gift, bequest, intestate succession, or other
means by one individual to another if both individuals are
members of the same immediate family."

with the key word there being "infrequent". I believe CA law limits you to 6 or less handgun transfers per year. more than that and you are considered a dealer.

No... your sibling will have to be CA residents with CDL.

As a Idaho resident, if you transport a handgun into CA, in order for you to get it off your hands... you have to give it to a FFL, who accepts it... almost like you shipped it to him. From there, he can do the paperwork for the CA resident. BUT here's the sticky part... it isn't a PPT anymore. SO, the handgun needs to be a rostered handgun for him to DROS to a CA (non-LEO) resident.
If they were only visiting, it does not work as a PPT. That's why there's inter-family transfer... but that's only good from parent-to-child or grandparents-to-grandchild.

Maybe we should redirect this to the FFL group where some folks who actually have to process this stuff might know.

                  Yup.

                  Roster-exempt intra-familial transfer. No problem.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Fresh out on the loaner front but..... Do you have any children or grandchildren living out of state? the transfer can go either direction.
