    Aguila .22 Collibri/Super Collibri

I ordered a box of .22lr Collibri from Midwayusa and was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this round? Out of my 22/45 it sounds like a loud air rifle and out of my 10/22 it all you hear is a click and the round hitting the target(did some damage to a can in the backyard). I feel like i the round are too short though as it makes it a real pain to load into my 10/22 manually. I loaded two rounds into my magazin(just wanted to see if it worked) and had the second round lodge in there which means I need to dissassemble my mag. Anyways for people who have close neighbors this is an amazing little round that is extremely quiet, so if your looking for a backyard plinking round give this a try!

Shoot them from a Contender 12" barrel. The strike on the backer board is louder than the sound of the shot. Have pretty good striking power. They will bury themself about .25" in plywood. Fun little round.

I thought the "regular" Colibri was not supposed to be fired out of rifles?

Anyway, I shoot both these rounds in a revolver for pest control. The regular Colibri is pretty quiet while the Super is much louder. Course, one would expect that from a wheel gun. Penetration at 20 feet is around 50% of a three inch inch phone book for the regular and 90% for the Super.

Use a bolt action or lever action to shoot Colibri's or CB's. It won't cycle a semi-auto and hand loading is a pain. I think it says to not use them in rifles. But it seems lots of people do. If you do, make sure the bullet actually leaves the barrel before firing again.

Its usually pretty obvious when the bullet leaves the gun because its the only other sound you hear besides click!

Unless you're shooting at soft damp dirt on a windy day, which I have. But you're right. Normally you distinctly hear the impact because the round is so quiet.

although sometimes they bounce off a steel can
they always go into an aluminum one

Bolt actions are best used. As close to Hollywood style silencer you will get. Try shooting beyond 50 feet. It's like calling in artillery with the angling of the barrel. I once shot a calibri round at a filled water bottle at 40 yards. Hit the bottle and pierced it, but water stopped the penetration and I could see the intact round on the bottom of the bottle.

I have shot hundreds of these through various 22s. My favourite revolver for them is a single action 9inch ruger. Tried them in a marlin 39a. No less louder than a desent sized air rifle. Though the last time I did, I had one round that did nada. No retort or sound on impact strange???. Checked the barrel with a wooden dowel and it had exited. I live in the city on an acre lot with good neighbors and privacy. Hmmm finnish the honey do list and maybe I will do alittle plinkin today

I have a little Savage single shot with a pistol scope, just requires readjustment from going from .22 LR to the Colibri's. Aguila also says these rounds are closer to the overall length of a .22 long. They do bounce back hitting certain objects so still wear your safety glasses. Have fun!

I've usually found them to be far quieter than any air rifle I've shot. At least any .177 break-barrel that shoots around 1,000fps or more. I do have a Crosman 760 that if I only pump it up 2 or 3 pumps it's sometimes as quiet. I usually shoot my Colibri's or CB's out of a Henry lever action.

Funny thing is with Super Colibri's and CB Long's, noise depends entirely on the individual round you're shooting. Most are very quiet, but some rounds are louder than the others for some reason.

Depends on what your regular is. Colibri's are packaged like 22lr with a short bullet.

                            .22 lengths

                            Hope this helps

                            Colibri = 0.803" (20gr)
                            Super Colibri = 0.803" (20gr)
SuperExtra = 0.970" (40gr std Velocity) for comparison

SuperExtra being a normal Aguila subsonic .22 round

Colibris and Super Colibris both use a standard .22 LR casing. The projectile they use is shorter and lighter than a .22 LR though. The only box magazine firearm I have found that feeds them is a Mossberg M44 US trainer. I can load up a full 7 rounds in the magazine and they all feed fine. Other magazines only hold 1 to 3 rounds before they start getting all hinky. They also feed fine in tube magazine rifles.
