sig 522 vs gsg-5

i currently own the gsg-5 sd, if i use the cci mini mags it runs perfect. the accuracy is good too. my only gripe is that it looks dumb with anything on it except a red dot..i currently have a leupold prismatic on it and it really is a good little plinker..but i'm tempted by the sig..i could put a decent 1-4x on it and get the magnification i would really like.

so, you sig owners...is it reliable?, is break down easy?, is it accurate?..please chime in...thanks

can't say enough good things about the sig 522. I have well over 1000 rounds out of mine. the only issue I have once in a while is a round doesn't go off but that is the ammo not the gun. Take down is super easy. undo the back pin and the bolt comes right out. check out Nutnfancy's vid.

I like mine. Pretty much what surfNshoot said. I put in over 3000 rds in mine. Real easy to take a part and clean. The only thing that irritated me with it is that it didn't come with iron sights so i mounted a cheap scope from opticsplanet. I think its cool for target practice. With ear plugs on and no recoil, I can't tell if the round goes off (yeah I know its a 22). Im used to larger caliber rifles.

I have both.

The Sig is very reliable and super easy to break down. It's definitely a keeper.

I love the GSG-5 for that MP5 look and it's been reliable. Take down is a beeotch though

Im more intrested in accuracy. I too am thinking about getting a 522 but Im still waiting for 10 day on my GSG-5. Cant wait to pick it up..if I gather enough info on the 522, I might just put one on another 10 day wait when I pick up my GSG-5.

I have a GSG-5 and I Love mine, But I just picked up a Ruger SR-22 and for longer dis. this is the way to go.......

The Sig 522 is a great rifle, very well designed and executed. It is extremely easy to take down unlike the GSG5 and is more accurate, I have both. If I had to choose bewteen the two it's an easy choice, the 522 wins.

The upper and lower half of a Sig 522 come apart in less than 10 seconds. The rest comes apart pretty easy too. I looked around at a lot of tacti-cool .22's but the Sig 522 was the one I felt was the best for what I wanted, reliable, easy to clean, and quality.

My only gripe about it, which has been stated by other members, is the fact that it doesn't come with factory iron sights and the front sight doesn't take typical AR sights without an additional adapter.

Can you please provide a link to the adapter? I'd like to put some iron sights on mine--the LGS says a set of sights from Sig is $219! FOr a .22LR rifle that cost me $449? WTF?

Here is an ebay link for the dovetail to picatinny adapter that I found on rimfirecentral. I believe the adapter will raise the front sight above the plane of the rear sight so some further adjustments will be needed to get it zeroed.

Part of the reason why I just scoped my 522 was that it seemed like too much of a pain in the butt to get iron sights for it. I also didn't see a real savings in money of going irons over scope.

MI front and rear sites cost me $173 but do not require an adapter. Front
sight goes into the gas block and the rear mounts on the rail. Pete
