    Voere 22, open bolt rifle

Anybody know anything about these rifles? Aparently only 1500 entered the country before DOJ stopped them due to open bolt.

    Please give any feed back

    Thanks

Wow, not a whole lot pops up on the Voere 2500 in google. From the few things I read, it looks like a bunch of them were converted to full auto before the '86 ban, so I would imagine if you could find a semi-auto, you'd have a very unique rifle.

In '81 the BATF decided no more open bolt semis cause they could be too easily converted to FA, but there is no extra regulation on purchasing a pre-'81 open bolt semi-auto, either federally or in CA.

I think the Voere 2005 is a fun and accurate plinking rifle. They are very well made. Their downsides relate to them being out of production, so parts and mags are not really available if needed, except on a catch as catch can basis. Also their open bolt mechanism makes them collectible, and therefore more expensive than perhaps otherwise warranted, for what they are. However they work and are fairly accurate. Not target rifle accurate, but as accurate as any other plinking .22, and a lot more accurate than some plinkers. They have an extremely simple mechanism, with very few parts, and run great as a result. I have a blog on open bolt guns, http://openboltguns.blogspot.com which has disassembly directions with pictures for the model 2005, lots of 2005 pictures, and a scan of the manual, if you're interested.

The $1000+ reserve prices for the two on Gunbroker.com now, auctions 186610864 and 186613982 are way high, in my opinion. One recently went for $375 on the sturmgewehr.com board. If you want one hold out for one at a reasonable price.
