The mount you have shown has regular iron sights built in driving the price up. The Red Dot will cover these. You can mount and remove a less expensive rail when you want red dot or iron sights. Once you go dot you may not want to go back. They fit otherwise.

What I have seen is dot size and clarity. Cheaper dots will have more of a red tint to the optics than higher priced quality units. The dot will be clearer with sharper edges and smaller dots will be available on the higher priced versions. Dot size is important if you want to use it at ranges longer than 50yrds. The large dots will cover a good portion of the target get the smallest dot avail. Cheap dots are best at plinking distance. Not one of my high priced red dots have failed even on hard kicking rifles and handguns and shotguns. I have a shotgun that will kill most cheap dots it has killed three of mine. Most have a good warranty and just send them in and get a new one. I don't think 30 bucks is a lot of money for the fun a cheap red dot sight will provide.I was wondering, what is the difference between the $80 red dot sight I bought and these other red dot sights that are like $299 that look identical??Comment
