I don't know much about rifle shooting, so I signed up for the June Chabot Appleseed shoot and bought a starter .22--a Savage 64 semiauto.
Trouble is, there are no sling mounts on the stock, but the Appleseed shoot requires one. I have a webbing/velcro sling mount for the rear of the stock, but nothing for the front. I could try drilling the stock for a front swivel stud, but would rather avoid it. Are there slings available that loop over the barrel or use some other arrangement? Perhaps someone makes a barrel clamp with a ring? Ideas appreciated.
