There is a lot to be said for specialization. Which company has the longest track record of building not only parts but complete firearms?

I buy AK receivers from Nodak and rimfire parts from V.

While I have built dozens of AKs I would prefer to have a rimfire built for me or just buy one off the rack. I have seen countless examples of guys spending a fortune on parts only to assemble a rifle that gets outshot by an off the rack 10/22.

When newer shooters at the range ask me what they should buy I say ammo. When you get to the point where you can shoot groups you can decide how much you want to spend to get smaller groups.

I'm not sure but I think he is talking about a receiver for building a 10/22 style rifle from the ground up. Nodak and Volquartsen both make them.

I'm pretty sure there is a clear preference for the Volquartsen receiver. It seems to me that if you would buy a Nodak receiver to build your .22 the reason would be to spend less money. Some would say what's the point to building your own then if you're not determined to have the best possible finished product? My answer would be that as home builders we enjoy doing the work and having the satisfaction of showing our friends something we did from the ground up. Most of us can't afford to buy the absolute best of every part available so we pick and choose how to get the most bang for our bucks.
