Balancing a MKIII hunter, can it be done?

So I handled the 6 7/8 barreled MKIII hunter and I like it, but I don't like the balance so much. I've got an aimpoint micro and I know that they make a special mount for it but would that make the balance any better or worse? Has anyone had any luck balancing out the long barrel somehow?

My MKIII Hunter (6 7/8) balances well for me, doesn't feel front heavy. I've tried a couple of red dots but didn't like the added weight.

I have the 6 7/8 Competition. It has a grip with a thumb rest, that might make it a little bit more manageable but it is still muzzle heavy. The grip looks like the one on this page (lower picture): http://www.woodgrips.com/ruger_mkiii.htm

I like that grip, but if you're left handed, it's not for you. I don't know if the place in the URL is a good vendor, but I might buy a thumb grip from them for another Mark III I have (Target, 5.5 barrel).

If you can find the Competition model and handle it, it might give you an indication of whether or not the change of grips will help. The Competition is 3 oz heavier than the Hunter.

Maybe go with a Target with the tapered barrel for weight balance, although that fluted barrel on the Hunter lines is really neat looking.

Of all the Ruger autos I like the balance on the 4 or 5 1/2 inch bull the best. I have a slab side, a taper and a hunter 6-7/8 but they are a tad front heavy for me.

Not sure what you're talking about, my MKIII seems to be just fine. Admittingly, it is not a light weight pistol, but not out of balance either.
