    Bad Bulk ammo or 15-22???

Today was my third time shooting my S&W 15-22 and the first with Remington Bulk .22 golden bullet from Walmart. I had failure to fire with one in ten shots. I checked the round and was able to see where the hammer hit the rim but there was no shot. I am assuming the problem lies with the golden bullet, right. Previously, shot Winchester rounds and didn't have any failure to fires. The problem is, I was so excited to see Walmart with .22 ammo in stock, I bought 1600 rounds.

its the ammo. I must have had 6-7 FTF for every 25 round mag...when I tried Remington golden bullet ammo. thought maybe it was just breaking in, so i ran an entire brick this way...

switched to Federal bulk and Winchester bulk, and the failures stopped.

      Ammo.
Most .22LR rifles and pistols have ammo preferences. Yours doesn't like Remington Golden Bullet. Get some boxes of 50 from different manufacturers and try them out, one will be more accurate and reliable than the others, when you find what your 15-22 likes buy it in bulk.
I'm sure you could sell the Remington ammo here. I'm trying to remember if my 10/22 likes it.

It's true that most .22LR firearms will have an ammo preference. But that only applies to accuracy and feeding issues. When the ammo is feeding correctly and has a primer strike visible on the casing but still doesn't fire then you know you have entered Remington (rimfire) country.

Remington .22LR ammo is the worst bulk .22LR I have ever had the displeasure to buy. I will never buy any Rem ammo again, in any caliber. It's also a saftey hazard trying to shoot that Rem garbage. Wish somebody would sue them, so they quit selling it to consumers.

I like the core-lokt, just the 22 seems to be garbage.

I'm sure my Sig P226 would shoot their .40 fine, as a Sig P226 should shoot any brand with no issues, similar to a Glock but I still wouldn't buy their .40 just because of how horrible their .22LR is.

Does their other ammo calibers come all corroded, dirty, waxy and greasy looking too?

As others have said, Remington Golden Bullet is disease and darkness wrapped in terrifying golden dust.

Thanks for all the replies. i was just excited to see any .22lr in stock at Walmart and ended up buying (3) boxes of the Remington golden bullets. My mistake. I'll use them up and never turn back.

I completely agree. Even though .22's are still hard to come by, I've walked away from Remingtons. Only couple of my guns will run reliably with it, unlike Federal or CCI which are almost 100% on all of my guns.

On reliability and cost, you can't beat Federal bricks

As others have noted its bad ammo you're using. Here is a list straight from the manual:

                        Aprroved 15-22 ammo

                        Aguila Super Extra High Velocity
                        Aguila Super Extra Std. Velocity
                        CCI Standard Velocity
                        CCI Mini-Mag
                        CCI Stinger
                        Federal American Eagle
                        Federal GameShock
                        Winchester Super-X High Velocity

                        Not Recommended 15-22 ammo

                        Remington Golden Bullet
                        Remington Target 22
                        Remington Thunderbolt
                        Winchester Wildcat
                        any and all subsonic ammo

I've also heard good things about the Eley Sport and Fiocchi ammo and plan on picking some up to try out. Last I saw Bay Area Gun Vault had some cases available for sale.

...just got back from local indoor range and another 60 flawless rounds thru our 15-22.

Today used Federal Value Pack 36gr HP's...no probs at all.

Ran 100 rounds of the Winchester 36gr HP (the 333 pack) last week. No probs. Have also run 50 rounds of the Winchester Super-X...also NO PROBS.

Awesome little rifle, very happy with it.

Don't use the rest of the Rem in the 15-22! I just got mine back from S&W after ONE Rem snuck in to the box and blew out my extractor. Federal I had not one problem (except when I loaded the mag wrong, not staggered) S&W took 'bout three week turn around time and I got a free mag.
