Help with selecting scope rings

Last year I bought my first 10/22. I bought it used and it had a Simmons 3-9x40 8point scope on it with weaver tip off rings and base. It is a nice little scope but I bought a new one. Midway has a sale on Simmons Whitetail Classic Rifle Scope 6.5-20x 50mm Adjustable Objective Truplex Reticle http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct...tnumber=746570 for $110 and I couldn't talk myself out of spending the money. The scope rings from my old scope will be way too short and I need to buy new ones. If the Objective diameter is 2.50" + lens cap, what minimum height do I need to have for the new rings? I cant quite figure out how to go about doing the math on this...

If anyone has suggestions on some ring choices I would appreciate the input. I would also like to hear opinions on the new scope.
