    Any Marlin 925M, 25M- 22mag owners?

I am looking for a bolt action, magazine fed 22Mag rifle for my son.
I am looking for a used one and I would like to know what you like or do not like about yours. Any problem areas to look for? Models I am most interested in are the Marlin 925M, 25M or even the 882 in 22mag, but am curious about others too. What scope do you have?
I already shoot 22mag so this is not a caliber debate-
We have a chance to go prairie dog hunting this summer so I am trying to put together a little package for him.

I have the Marlin 925M. Right now I am playing musical scopes with it but will probably leave a Mueller 8.5-25x44 AO on it.

What I like about it is its accuracy. About an inch at 100yds when I do my part. It has been reliable thru about 2000 rounds, never an ejection problem although I have had some fail to fire but believe that was the ammo. Will shoot CCI Maxi-mags all day without a hickup. Came with two mags, 4 and 7 round. The 7 round does not always feed properly and I have to push up on the bottom of the mag to get it to feed. Not a big deal at the bench but could be when hunting.

While this does not bother me it may not be to your liking. The stock is rather plain (stained beech I think). It had a couple of marks in the bluing on the barrel which I didn't discover right away but know I didn't cause them. My fault for not inspectint the new gun good enough when I got it from the dealer.

The other Marlins that you mentioned have better looking stocks if memory serves me correctly. I use it for punching paper only so it doesn't see as much use as my 22lr due to ammo cost.

I have one of the Marlin 983 .22mag bolt action tube fed that I got from my wife for Christmas and I have really enjoyed the shooting I've done with it. I like the tubefeed for two reasons:
      1) nothing hanging below the stock when I want to shoot off the bench.
      2) holds more shells than the magazine fed 982s.

I put a cheap Walmart 3-9x scope on mine with tip-off rings. If you're not going to use tip-offs then you'll want to get the bases and rings from Marlin if it doesn't come with the gun because I've had a helluva time finding bases for weaver rings.
