Is there a verdict on the GSG522?

When ATI announced in January they were replacing the GSG-5 with the GSG-522 (after their settlement with HK), there seemed to be mixed impressions on this board.

Now that it's been a few months, does anyone have field experience with the new "updated" GSG-522? How does it compare with the 1st or 2nd generation GSG-5? Do they have better quality bolts now? etc..

I was looking for a fun plinker (don't own a .22lr yet) and a local dealer has the GSG-522 for about $380 (and the SD variant for $395). I was wondering if I should get that, or is it worth the extra time and money to find a GSG-5?

Can't tell you about the new version but I have the older GSG5 and she's been excellent - I've put 2k and have no issues -

I can't speak for the older models but I extensively shot a new one before. I put all kinds of ammo through it (CCI Minimags, Remington Golden Bullets, Federal Bulk Pack) and only had a few malfunctions due to the way I loaded the mags. I had to seat each bullet into the mag one at a time for it to function 100%. If I tried to load all the rounds in at once I'd get FTFs. The bolt locked back on every empty mag without any problems. I really liked the gun but found that the LOP was too short for me to use with the stock sights, but that could be addressed with a red dot or adjustable stock.
