    Mosquito kinks

First of all, I have searched the threads on the Mosquito pistol and read up on what the people have to say.

My last question (didn't find a whole lot on this) is if you guys know if the latest model of the mosquito has gotten over some of its kinks. FTF, FTE, picky eater etc.

    Thanks for the help

I have a friend that has been trying to find out the same thing. He called Sig and asked them. Sig said that they have made some changes but we tried shooting one that was fairly new (about 6 months old) and it had all the same issues that you have read about. Trust me I'm a HUGE sig fan and would love to see them get this pistol sorted but I havn't seen anything yet to prove to me that this gun is reliable. Now I'm sure there are a few guys out there that will tell me they have found the right ammo and the gun runs fine but I'll stick with my Buckmark. I don't need to "find" an ammo that will work with it. I just load up whatever I have in front of me and start shooting. This is what I expect from a gun I want to plink with.

Gun Tests Magazine just tested the Mosquito (along with a few other 'tactical' .22lr pistols) and gave it a 'F' grade for firing out of battery. Sig told them that some have chambers that are too tight and they need to be returned to Sig to have it reamed. I know Sig has had QC issues with the Mosquito in the past...surprising to see that they still are after having it in production for a while.

lol. Just think: What does a real mosquito do? Its there to annoy you. The Sig Mosquito is there to annoy you. Period!

JK, if they ever sort out the issues, I wouldnt mind buying one at all! I had one, it was so bad I sold it after trying all 22LR known to man. Got a MKIII to pair up with my Buckmark, and Im dandy!

I have one and have been threw a lot with it.The spring is not light enough so you have to shoot 40 gr ammo. Federal and Winchester super X 40 gr solids run just fine in it .You don't have to just shoot cci mini mags .

I all so polished the chamber a little to.It is a fun gun to shoot I like it now. I also like how slim it is.Here is a video i made it is accurate.

Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

Are those tires you have back there? haha. I remember once some stupid kid shot a tire and the 22LR bounced back whizzing by his head! But the tire was still full of air..maybe diffrent results.
              Cool video!

The tires are used to hold down plastic and cover hay. So far the only a few fragments have come back from hitting steel. One hit me op the nose so I put on saftey glasses lol.

cool, thanks guys. Guess i'm finally convinced not to get the sig. thats too bad though, gun looks and feels great and the others are awesome. sounds kind of like the walther 22 might be the same situation. MKIII might be the way (even though it has a bizarre look to it)

stay away from the p22 as well... that thing is a tiny piece of plastic sadness

EDIT: stick with a mkIII or a buckmark if you are on a budget. the alternative to get something thats "cool" is to get a 1911, glock, sig or cz .22lr conversion

That's what I did--bought a .22 LR conversion for my Sig P229. Liking it so far and costs less than a dedicated pistol.

Yes--same with the .357 SIG barrel I bought for it.

That's why I also like the P250--almost a Glock only better--you can buy slide/barrel/etc combos far lot's of calibers with no DROS. Sigs are my pistol of choice--you get what you pay for.
