cmmg 22 kit, bullet botton, need both?

if i put the 22lr conv kit in my ar, is it legal to remove the bullet botton? does it consider as a rimfire rifle beause my lower still marked .223 cal?

The markings on the lower have no significance whatsoever. A rifle is either rimfire or centerfire and different laws apply accordingly.
Using C Products 10 round magazines in my AR-15...just to be "safe"...

My understanding is that, unless you have a dedicated .22lr upper, then it's still considered a centerfire rifle, and the BB still needs to be used. Correct me if I'm wrong.

        You're wrong.

Remove the BB when using .22LR.

Put it back on when you shoot centerfire.

If, as it sits, it is not capable of firing centerfire ammo but instead shoots rimfire ammo, it is a rimfire rifle and not a centerfire rifle.

The concern some people have is that if you have a standard BCG nearby that sometime between your arrest and trial, that rimfire conversion kit could be removed and the centerfire BCG installed. Now you have a detachable-mag'ed centerfire rifle with features, which is not ok. So, in a CYA move, some people want a .22lr-marked lower with a dedicated .22lr upper, but it isn't required.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

The issue then becomes the magazines.

You need to find 10 rounders.

I'm not aware of any AR 22lr hi cap magazines that were made pre-ban.

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have always been curious if there are pre-ban hi cap AR 22lr mags out there.

B;acl Dog makes 10/30 10/20's that are for us CA and other wimpy states that dictate 10 or less rounds.

Yup. I had a ton of pre-ban Ciener mags. I rebuilt them all into modern Black Dogs. But there were definitely hi-cap AR-22 mags out there.

There weren't hi-caps available for the M261 military conversion units though, to my knowledge.

On top of that, 10rd AR-22 mags are extremely easy to find and widely available from BDM.

They don't do the 10/30's anymore (actually, 10/27's). They now do a 10/20 style magazine like so:

                    Thank you.

Here is a good article on the history of the 22lr AR conversion I just found. Thought I'd share:

What part of the Ciener mags are interchangable with blackdogs to rebuild them to blackdogs?
