So, I had to clear out a lot of my dad's old stuff from a storage locker he had and found my old .22 from when I was a kid. It's a bolt action Springfield/Stevens Model 56. It's probably been sitting in storage for at least 10 years now. It's in ok condition. I cleaned it up some, the bore seems good & bright still, but the exterior has gotten a bit of surface rust. I've only got one 5 round mag for it (all I ever had).
Anyway, I have 2 questions now.
1) Anyone know where I can find extra magazines for this gun? I've dome some searches but haven't found anything terribly promising.
2) Would it be worth refinishing this thing? Is it sacrilege to refinish an old gun like this? I can't imagine it has much value past the sentimental. I'd love to get it cleaned up and reblued though. Anyone know someone in the bay area (south bay preferred) who could de-rust & re-blue this thing?
Thanks guys
