10/22 build

Hey All, new to the forum as a registered member, been lurking on/off for awhile. I am building my 1st rifle, I was at a gun show in Reno and really liked the looks of this rifle, so I decided to build it. I have everything I need but the receiver/trigger assembly. I am looking for some suggestions on how I should finish the project. The seller suggested I go buy a cheap 10/22 rifle and use the parts from it. But I want to weigh all my options and was looking for some input.
Also I'm a noob and don't know much about rifles, when I say I need a receiver does that include trigger assembly? This is what I have so far; Stock by Revolution, Tactical solutions barrel, bipod, and scope. I was told all I need is the receiver is that correct?

You heard right. The cheapest way to get a 10/22 receiver/trigger assembly is to buy a complete rifle (without any after market parts), take out and use the receiver/trigger assembly and sell the other parts. Here in San Diego, the price for a used one is about the same as the price for a new one.

Search around on this site and on rimfire central for info on the advantages and disadvantages of new vs. used.

I basically gutted mine and got all volkquartsen parts for mine.... and a stock from Rev.... i only used the reciever and bolt from the 10/22. Its sweet... a high end reciever is 350-400... and does little to enhance performance over stock 10/22... try to find an older used reciever.

You forgot the bolt.
Bolt + Trigger assembly + receiver + barrel v-block (attaches the barrel to the receiver) all your stuff = complete gun.

It's easier if you just buy a used 10/22 as a starting point.... you can sell the stuff off you don't need as well.

Yep, just buy a used one or a new one. Either will be cheaper than if you buy a receiver from VQ or another company.

It is the motherland of the 10/22. Do a lot of reading and you will find most of your answers without even having to post anything.

The SportsmansGuide has a great deal on the Volquartsen TG2000 trigger group. I think they have it for $199, even less if you are a club member and use one of the $10 off coupons. I bought this exact trigger and I love it! Also went with a Vol cocking lever, V Block, buffer, Kidd performance bolt assembly, B/C stock and B/C feather weight bull barrel. Pretty much the only thing left on the gun that is stock is the receiver.

If was you I'd try and find a used 10/22 and use those parts. If its your first attempt at building a 10/22 it will be much easier to have a complete rifle and swap out the parts you want rather than building from scratch.

OK, found my donor rifle for the 10/22 build....I would describe as to be only in fair shape but it is what I was looking for. It's an older gun with a wood stock and metal receiver, also has an older scope on it. The wood on the stock is decent but has some small dents and could used to be refinished, the other thing I noticed was the scope rail was scratched up a bit, I'm assuming I can fix that up. I'm leaning towards a new trigger assembly or at least some mods to lighten up the pull. Also maybe sprucing up the receiver a bit appearance wise. Can't wait to pick it up, on 5/3.
