Pimp my Ruger...

I purchased a brand new Ruger 10/22 from Big5 this Saturday. I'm debating either keeping it traditional or getting a new stock and other tacticool, but otherwise useless addons. Any recommendations?

Im picking my 10/22 up on thursday and probably one of the first ups for it is going to be an auto bolt release right behind a few mags and hella ammo. after that stock and barrel to taste. new trigger group down the line probably.

+1 I find huge variances in ammo brands in my Ruger

Also a Bolt Buffer and DIY auto bolt release are quick and easy and make an immediate improvement.

Project gun that never was...

I had always intended to build a bull-barrel plinker, but never really moved forward. I have a Hogue 10/22 stock in olive drab green, never been used. Probably going to put it up on eBay, then pick up the Ruger 10/22 tactical, which has everything I want already installed.

I'll probably get slammed for this but you did ask to pimp a Ruger 10/22. I added a Tapco Intrafuse stock, GripPod at the forend, green laser with pressure pad, and a 6-24 x 42 variable power scope.

My line of thinking is that I can use it in a "tactical" situation with the fore-grip and laser for quick target acquisition out to about 75 yards. Beyond that I have the option to go prone with the bipod deployed and scope for really making the shots count and go where I want them to go. When I was breaking it in at the range, I got it nice and zeroed. My brother and I had set two fenceposts with florescent pink contractor's line on one of the private ranges at Burro Canyon. He was able to take out one of those lines at 70 yards using the scope on his third shot. This really seems like the best of both worlds in a build for me.

I think the stock cost me more than the rest of the rifle (J/K). But I think it looks cool and my nephews love it! They shoot the crap out of it.I Duracoated in Magpul Olive Drab,Bell and Carlson Anschutz style stock,Clerke barrel and alot of small internal upgrades.At 50 yards my nephew shoots bottle caps all day long.

Reading the title, a show came to mind, it goes like this:

Guy's mom writes a letter to "Pimp My Rifle" show, they accept him and as he goes out to work, they come and jack his gun. He calls the police (who are involved) and they say they will go hunt for the gun. The guys who jaks his gun is in a secret shop, pimping his stock, glass bedding it, ordering new match barrel, custom painting the stock to what the mom tells them the guy likes. A week later and they call him in... he see's his gun and he's speechless and cries.


Anyways, the Tapco looks nice, should try that route. They even have a bull barrel version now too!
