    ARES RCU 22

What is the Legality of this?

I saw this at turners today and i am wondering what is the legality of converting my pistol into the carbine and then converting it back in to a pistol?

I know BATF says "YOU CAN CONVERT A PISTOL INTO A RIFLE: BUT IT IS ILLEGAL TO CONVERT A RIFLE INTO A PISTOL"

But the "upper" ares rcu/receiver is serialized and the "lower" (ruger mk2/3;22/45 grip) is not serialized

Is the frame considered a "pistol" or a "pistol component"?

As you said, the pistol tube is the receiver in a ruger pistol.

Since what you are borrowing from the Ruger pistol is the lower frame (not a firearm) with the FCG, IMO that's pretty smart as it eliminates any pistol->rifle->pistol conversion questions. The downside is that they could have just as easily built a cheapie lower FCG and the "firearm" that they sell would be fully functional.
