I'm in the process of building a dedicated .22 AR for competitions. I'm using a mega lower labeled as "Caliber: Multi"

I know that as a dedicated .22 I'm not required to use the bullet button on it. But can I build and DROS it as dedicated .22 if the lower is stamped multi?

You can build it as any caliber you want, regardless of the "MULTI" marking. It could be 6.8, 50 Beo, 9mm, etc. that is actually why a lot of manufactures use the "MULTI" terminology now, instead of 5.56/.223 (gotta love choices!) As far as the DROSing part - it doesn't matter - the lower is just a "long gun" and that's it. The upper (see previous calibers, et al) does not matter in the DROS process.

Also, I have a couple of those "MULTI" marked Mega's and one just happens to be a dedicated .22 AR (but it started out with a 5.56 upper on it) - have fun!
