Just bought - Marlin Model 60 - your thoughts please

Now I wait 9 days!!! Picked this up from Turners San Marcos for $149 .The staff helping me was very efficient!! Got in and out fairly quick.

Anyone care to share any comments or concerns regarding this rifle?

I love my Marlin 60s! Buy a spee-d-loader and a bunch of ammo because your going to need it.

Great price. I've got a Marlin 70pss. First firearm I ever bought. Can still make a can dance at 40 yards with open sights.

I love my Marlin 60... maybe even more than my 39A. There is a reason that Marlin has sold more of the 60 than Ruger has sold 10-22s, and that is that they are a dependable little shooter at a terrific price point.

+1 to buying a tube loader.

I do love my model 60. Its quite old and still very reliable and accurate. I believe around 20 years. It's the rifle my 5 year old shoots.

I love my 60! When I first got it about 20 years ago, I had a bunch of FTF and FTE's. But after a couple hundred rounds it began to run nice and smooth and ate anything I fed it.

The only thing I don't like on my model 60 is that I can't get my scope to stay on. It may be the mount, but it slides off every 50 rounds or so. And believe me, I've tightened the crap out of the screws. Anyone else have this problem? I may just have a crappy scope.

Otherwise, it's an awesome gun! I mounted a sling and I can take it everywhere. Definitely one of my favorite guns even with the scope issue.

Better than the 39a? I like my M60 but love my Mountie.

Marlins are much more accurate out of the box than most. I've heard quality control going down on recent Marlin rifles due to possible employee unrest.

My brother has had a Marlin Glenfield Model 60 since the 1970s and it is still going strong. Hardly ever cleaned either. His has an impression of a squirrel and acorn on the pistol gip. My only complaint about these guns, and the likes of the Ruger 10/22 is that they are a bit mundane to shoot. Otherwise, well built, accurate and reliable.

I have many semi auto .22's, and I prefer the Model 60 to most of them. IMHO, I believe the Model 60 to be superior to the 10/22 out of the box.
