Just a suggestion. Try different ammo. CCI, Federal. Almost all ammo better than Remington. RGB are dirty and quality control lacks big time.

For "recoil" try some hyper velocity rounds....

^^federal is quite a bit cleaner & nearly never has any failure/duds
regardless, of excessive use

have been getting 36 grain hollow point bulk packs of 375 in washington state @ wallys for 11.47$
@ merely .0305 per round is a best price i've been able to acquire
fortunately i'm a resident of oregon, so pay no sales tax .
that's why it's not figured into equation

well, THERE'S your problem. youre shooting remington. You should be able to shoot a whole brick (if not 2-3 bricks) without having to clean a 22 very much. Especially a bolt action. try some American Eagle if you can find it.

Our crikett has gone thru about 2k with out cleaning and it's still going. It's so leaded that the front barrel has a very define star shape lead/deposit but still going strong.... I love em!

I got my son his two summers ago when he turned 7. Still loves it. I have a bunch of the cheap dirty Remington as well. The Cricket gets a bit gummy after a hundred or so rounds and needs the bolt wiped down. By then my sons hands are a bit tired of the manual cocking each time so it's works out.

I need to get him an inexpensive bipod for it.
