Pmags in .22 ARs

Just wondering that if you have a normal AR with a .22LR conversion kit in it, will Pmags fit and lock into the mag well?

Just wondering, would be nice to practice mag changes with a normal AR mags so I have some practice if I ever go shooting out of state.

I am on the fence between getting a .22LR kit and a S&W MP15, but if you can do this with the conversion kit, it might be another incentive to go that way.

Also, do any of the current .22 conversion kits allow the bolt release to function?

They fit, but do not do this unless you have a featureless build. It is way too easy for LE to take the rifle with evil features then "lose" the conversion bolt and have it magically turn into a center-fire AW with a missing bolt at trial.

No, the bolt release will not work in a standard lower with a ciener/cmmg style kit on the upper.

Also, be aware that most .223 barrels have twist rates for .223 (i.e. 1 in 7 to 1 in 9). .22lr needs quite a different twist rate (1 in 16 or thereabouts), so don't expect to be able to hit anything past about 50 yards.

When I have my Ciener conversion Kit in the AR, my Pmags won't lock into the magwell.

No bolt relaese function neither.

Why don't you just use the full body ten round BDM mags. You get the 30-round body still, they fit and lock in the magwell with the conversion kit in as well.

I pattern about a 6inch group at 100yds with my cmmg conversion shooting federal bulk (stag 1:9 twist). but the dedicated uppers are definitely the way to go and still 1/3rd the price of the m&p
