My first post and first .22

Hi guys, been lurking for a little while now and this is my first post. I'm looking to get my first rifle and have basically decided on the Sig 522. I've heard and read alot about those e-rings and am curious, AS OF TODAY, have the new 522 produced by Sig been fixed?

I'm not looking forward to replacing the e-ring after it breaks, so if I were to walk into my local gun shop and have them place an order from Sig, will the unit that's sent out be rectified of the e-ring problems or should I expect to have a failure at 500 rounds and then go through the pain of fixing it?

I have a 522 that has a little over 1k rounds through it without a problem. The e-clip on mine still looks fine, but I did by a bag of 1/8" e clips to have on hand just in case. Cost less than $1 from Home Depot to get 8 of them. Here's a link about the e-clip issue, it seems like the earliest 522 were more prone to having problems. The newest 522s already have the upgraded bolt. Aparently Sig Sauer is sending an upgraded bolt assembly for free to those who have the early Sigs with the e-clips failures.

From what I've read the newest Sig 522 should have a stainless bolt, round hole through the buffer, and a non tapered guide rod. My Sig has these features and is in the #5,000 serial number range.

If mine did ever break, it isn't that big of deal to replace, the rifle is easy to field strip and getting to the e clip and popping on a new one would probably take a couple of minutes at most.
