So I was reading the latest American Rifleman and it mentioned two Mossberg rimfire pistols based on the 702 and 802 rifles, the 802 Plinkster Pistol being a bolt action and the 702 a semi auto. Now I know a single shot pistol must be dimensionally compliant to be sold in CA, but Mossberg is equipping them with a 10 inch barrel so that should take care o the dimension problems.
The interesting thing is that right below the 702/802 pistol section in their 2010 catalog on page 28, it shows the 801 Half Pint model, which is supplied with a magazine plug that renders the 801 rifle into a single shot.( I know that we still have to modifythe magazine catch so it would require a tool to remove the magazine plug)
So....what are our chances of bring able to buy a 802 pistol here? I like the idea of a handy bolt action 22 pistol for pest control and plinking to take advantage of the reduced noise of the action from not havign a semi-auto action, and knowing Mossberg the price point should be affordable. Some people may like the 802 but it has the same set of SB23 issue as the Ruger Charger and would require a magazine lock of sorts.
