the first weapon that ive shot was a beretta when i was 7yrs old, im guessing bobcat, woodent grips black and it shot 22lr. what is the defference between the 950 jetfire bobcat and the m21a?? i want to buy one for my self because for my backpacking trips. and lots of backpackers/hikers are a fan of the beretta pocket pistols.

+1 Bingo!!
The 950 has a safety and hammer like a 1911 (only really tiny)...
The 21A has a DA/SA hammer but the safety is UP for ON (like a 1911).
Weird little beasts..
Just stuff that .25 ACP (or .22LR) in the Bear's mouth, shoot 8+1 rounds and pull your hand back...

which one would be better and more effective?Comment

Get a Beretta Tomcat instead. .32 ACP is a much more hefty round, especially if you use the rounds the gun was designed around, Winchester Silver Tips. Or get some Grizzly Extreme .32, they have amazing stopping power, reportedly opening up to something crazy like 3/4 inch making the little .32 a real stopper. They are a bit back ordered right now, but expect to have some more ready in a few weeks._________________________________Originally posted by KestryllYou're boned.

i guess hikers like this pocket piece for wild dogs and big cats then?Comment

if you are serious about carrying a small semi-auto for back-packing, for wild dogs and critters, get a Glock 29.
Don't count your life on a 22LR. They are fun plinking rounds, but their performance in short barrel pistols are....less than confidence inspiring.
A 22 rifle can be a great gun to have for hunting small games, and might be okay for close snake protection, but if you are serious about stopping a wild animal, don't carry a Beretta 21A or Tomcat.Originally posted by cvigueThis is not rocket surgery.Comment

the little 32 tomcats are decient.
you can pop the barrel up and manualy load 1 round at a time, or fire semiauto from a small magazine.
though ive herd from owners that they like to jam more than fire on semi.Comment

I think the possibility of a problem with a bear is less likely than a problem with a mountain lion, at least in the PRC. There have been several people mauled over the past few years, mountain bikers, joggers and hikers, the smallest thing I would ever go to the woods with is a 3" Chiefs Special.
Just thinking out loud here.
