    Ruger 10 22 high scope

    Hi All,
I will finally be purchasing my first plinking/small game rifle (obviously a 10 22) this week and I need help choosing my scope setup. First of all, I am buying this on the cheap ($195 new) and I am interested in doing the same with the scope ($50-60). I know that you get what you pay for, but I'm saving for my AR-10. I would like a small, fixed power scope that is mounted above the iron sights for those 50-100 yard shots. I know that Bushnell and Tasco are the first two names thrown out there, but I need specific advise on the best QUALITY scope for that price range as well as how to configure it. Thank you for helping a NewB.

I have the 6.5-20x44 Intensity. Very well made, holds zero, etc. The "Federal Intensity" line has a pretty big following over on rimfirecentral. The 3-10x44 fits your price range, but is not a fixed power scope.

If you go over to RFC you will see a few threads with hundreds of replies in regards to the "Federal Intensity" line of scopes.

Midway has a Tasco 3-9x 40mm Mil-Dot for $54 and it got great reviews. What do you think? Also, the burning question is how do I need to mount the scope to use both scope and iron sights? Thanks for your help.

You can mount the scope with those High Ghost Rings that allow you to see under the scope and through the scope rings. I just put a Busnell 4-16x44AO on my 10/22. Although it doesn't quite fit your goal of fixed power and $50-$60. I got it at WallyWorld for $80. But I really like the Adjustable Objective for getting rid of parallax, it has 1/4MOA click dials, and being able to turn it up to 16x makes it easy to get right on a squirrels head. I love this scope for the money!
