Need some help with a MKII that I went to disasseble and after pulling the main spring out, the bolt will not come out. Mag in well, trigger pulled,
Want to get barrel off frame..
need some help with what might be stopping it..

I found some really great videos that look like the people from Ruger did on myoutdoortv.com or whatever it is, let me find it. I found them just an hour or so ago and bookmarked them because if I shoot it intermittently I forget how to put the damn thing back together.

The MKII doesn't have a mag disconnect, at least not the one I have, so I always remove the mag as part of unloading it. I will say that some times the hammer spur will get caught up and not let the hammer drop enough to remove the bolt. You may try to point the muzzle down , then roll it so as you point the muzzle up slightly the barrel stays under the grip (like the gun would be upside down) and then pull back on the bolt to remove.

Like 50BMGBOB said, I bet the hammer strut is caught in the grip/frame; this leaves the hammer partially up and won't allow the bolt to be removed.

Look into the rear of the receiver and make sure the hammer strut is hanging free and the hammer is all the way down. If not, use a small brass drift or similar to push the hammer up a little bit (freeing the hammer strut) and then make sure the hammer drops all the way down, the hammer strut shouldn't be caught on anything. The bolt should then slide right out.

Getting to know your hammer strut is also very important because that is the part that causes frustration for many people when reassembling their MkIIs

Geniuses.. each and everyone... I had not touched this SOB all night, and after reading all of my replies here went, rolled it over once, pull on that sucker and out she came.. Had it t have been that strut hanging up as h I know there is nother else in there that will hold that that back that I know of.

I also want to make a point that I was given a lot of help from a lot of good people and not from a lot of smart assed prima dona~s which has been the case. Now I know this last part could have gone on without being said but I think it needed to be because when I first joined Cgn, that is all I found here were good people... and I thank them all a lot.
