    Marlin 795 & Attaching Scopes

Hello folks, new member to the site, my name is Cody. This may be a total noob question, so, sorry in advance =)

I bought a Marlin 795 on sale at Big 5 back in January, and i dont really want a full on scope, a simple ACOG style red dot is what im looking for. Barska sells this: http://barska.com/ac10984.html

But it says it has a 5/8" base. I only have a 1/2" scope rail on my Marlin.

    What to do?

Your rail on your rifle is 3/8". Here's an adapter you could use or get a red dot that use scope rings or fits a 3/8" dovetail.
http://www.amazon.com/UTG-11mm-Weave.../dp/B001CJ67E6 Amazon sells a bunch of red dots too where you can get free shipping with the adapter. Mark

Also check out RimFireCentral.com - they have an optics thread - look for Marlin 60/795 info....

Turns out a lot of the airsoft/airguns use the 3/8" dovetail - and they have higher stresses than 22LR's!!! (Yeah - I didn't know that either!!) So mounts and scopes designed for them are inexpensive and rugged. Google airsoft mounts also....

Good luck!! I just put a scope on my Marlin 60, and love it. But that 3/8" dovetail does seem a bit hokey... Tighten your red dot down, and keep checking at the range/when fireing and keep tightening until it's solid...
