    hmm which 22 to get

I am looking to add a semi auto 22lr to my collection and i am looking at the savage model 64, marlin model 795, mossberg 702 plinkster ,or remington 597. My wife has a 10/22 already and i don't want to get one of those just didn't care for it a whole lot . So what one of those 4 choices would you choose ? which one of those is the most accurate in its stock configuration ?

I would also consider other semi auto 22lr models if anyone knows of any good ones .

I think a Marlin 60 would be a choice worth considering as well.
The 795 feels a little cheap to me.

But I think there is a deeper problem here that you should probably see a shrink about.

You don't care for the 10/22?

10/22's are the way to go IMO. I love mine. It eats every type of ammo I put in it.

You could look at Volquartsen or the MagnumLite by MagnumResearch. (slightly upgraded 10/22's)

For a semi auto 22, if not the 10/22 platform, I'd go one of the look-alikes with a Colt, S&W, or GSG. Something like that.

I've got a Mossy 702 and i love it. eats everything i give it, is as accurate as you can hope a .22lr to be, and it was cheap! the only thing i don't like about it is how much extra magazines cost.....$20+ just for one! other than that it's a great gun. They make ones with muzzle brakes now for some reason.....

Fail to fires are very common with 22lr ammo. I haven't shot the loose packs your speaking of. I have shot some remington 22 ammo and haven't had many problems with it. I stick with the cheap federal bulk pack from walmart and I've had been very happy with it. 11 bucks for 375 rounds is good enough for me.

i have a couple of boxes of golden bullets & won't be buying more
so i'll use them up in my pistol since it isn't as finicky as the sig rifle

& agree the federal champion bulk packs are working nearly as well as cci minimags @ less than half the price per round

Tubular magazines are magazines. I think you ment that you wanted a detachable box magazine, Right? Personally, I prefer to buy used .22s so, I'd tell you to keep looking around at shops and gun shows until you found the perfect rifle for your needs. But, since you don't yet have a rimfire rifle, pick one and buy it now. You can get another one or ten later.

                              10/22!!!

and it's probably the easiest to customize if you decide to do so later on
