Troy BUIS problem on Colt M4 22

I've got the Troy rear folding BUIS on my Colt M4 22. I shot a few rounds yesterday with the new sight installed and then noticed a bright mark on the back of the folder while in the upright position. Then I noticed a matching bright mark on the left side of the charging handle. Evidently, the Colt M4 22 dimensions must be slightly different than a "real" M4. Anybody else have a problem with your charging handle contacting the sight when it's folded down? I'm thinking of filing a little bit off the charging handle, and then touching it up with some "aluminum black." I doubt the problem is with the Troy sight, but not really sure.

why not just mount the buis forward away from the CH?

I should have done a better job of explaining in my original post - I've got an electronic sight mounted as far forward as it will go, and the Troy sight has to be mounted in the rear most rail slot in order to clear it. The Troy sight is designed to be mounted in that slot, buy I know you can mount it farther foward if you have room. I think the only downside of moving it forward is you don't get the same point of impact change per click on the windage adjustment, but in my case I don't have that option.

well, its not like its a combat arm or would ever be used for self defense, so i guess a buis is not needed....

or, you could shave the ch or sight.... then touch up black.

is it possible to fold the sight down, but not in the complete downright position?
my gg&g can do that & doesn't hinder using other optics even on low mount rings i can see past it w/out a problem
the mount is stiff enough it doesn't move & isn't in a 'locked' position

didn't you have a sig?
how do you think it compares to the colt?

been doing some touch up on a few parts & getting decent results using bar b que paint

Yeah, the Troy will fold down most of the way and stay put, but then I forget next time and put it all the way down. I like being able to switch back and forth between the eotech and iron sights without having to remove the eotech - didn't need a "backup" sight, just a sight that would fit behind the eotech without having to remove it. I looked at GG&G, YHM, and MI, but was afraid the windage knob would get in the way of the charging handle when the sight was folded. The Troy windage knob doesn't protrude so that part worked, just not quite enough clearance to avoid contact with the back of the upright. It wouldn't take much to make it clear, I'll either shave off a bit on the charging handle or maybe stick a little bit of felt or something on top of the upper to keep the sight up just a hair when folded. No, I don't have a Sig 522 but handled one at a gun show - seemed like a neat gun. I originally was going to get an M&P 22, but almost every one I looked at had a crooked rear sight, plus didn't like the feel and weight of the gun. Really, the only complaint I have on the Colt is being difficult to clean thoroughly. I never thought about barbecue paint - I've got some of that and also some header paint that I could probably apply with a toothpick or cotton swab. Thanks!

I could do that, but what little I've shot the gun with the eotech it seems to work better for me with the iron sight out of the way. I don't have a folding front sight, and I've got used to ignoring it - it just ends up being a blur while aiming. I do have all the sights aligned, so maybe will try leaving it up the next time I go shooting. Have you tried this? One thing I originally considered was putting one of the Colt/Umarex rear folders on it, they're slim like a Matech and wouldn't have interfered at all with the charging handle, but only have the large aperture. The Troy is about double the cost, but gave me the rest of the features I was wanting. Thanks!

Give MI Same Plane Low Profile BUIS a try.

I did quite a bit of research on that one and came real close to getting it - also could have saved a little money. Some reported that it has a bit of wobble to it, and the factory told them it was "normal." That scared me a bit, and also worried that the windage knob might be more in the way than it is on the Troy. Do you have an MI? Thanks!
