    M 261 Military conversion Magazine

Does anyone know which conversion kits currently made work with the original AR 15/M16 Military Mags with the military adapters to 22 cal ?

From what I have read on this forum, the M261 mags only work with the M261 kit. Black dog M261 mags work with the Kit very well. I bought a Atchinson conversion kit in the early 80's and the mags don't work with the M261 kit.

I have a couple M16 30 round mags that I use with the 10 round M261 inserts, the work very well and you can pop them in and out with no trouble.

Avoid using the polymer mags, the insert will tip.

I have a M261 marked Conversion and one without marks. They are identical. I think the unmarked unit may be a CMMG conversion but I'm not sure. Both use the mag inserts. Bdm mags don't work.

I believe that Olympic Arms makes an M261-compatible conversion kit.

Also, you might want to check out Sarco. I know they had some M261 bits a while back. Maybe you could retro-fit a current kit with the parts to make it work with M261 mags. Who knows.

If you have M261 hi-caps, you can rebuild them with BDM's, as they make an M261-compatible mag.

BDM makes a mag that works but it's not the same one that works with the Spike conversion or dedicated upper.
