I do suggest that if you shoot an SD at a public range, that you do this recall, because if you don't, you are in poessetion of an un-reg/taxed NFA item, and will be in for some bad juju

I'm not surprised by this move from the BATF.

A few months ago I was looking at the GSG SD in a store and I unscrewed the shroud. When I saw it was hollow I thought WTF.

If you decided to "port" the original barrel and then re-install the shroud, you would have something very similar to an actual MP5 SD.

I'll bet the fake can on this firearm has an inner sleeve and won't be considered a suppressor by the ATF

One could speculate that perhaps the mfg of that firearm had something to do with encouraging the ATF to take a closer look at the ATI GSG can

Anyone get the new SD fake can yet? I went to Turner's about 2 weeks ago to turn it in and they still haven't gotten anything back from ATI yet. I'm just waiting for the new ones to get in so that I can go back to the range.

I sent mine back on 2/25 and got it back today 3/4, so ATI is doing a pretty good job on the replacement turnaround. I shipped mine in directly to ATI, and not thru a dealer. I dont know how much time going thru a dealer adds.

It looks the same but with a pronounced "ring" around the opening for the barrel that wasnt there on the old style.

Yep, should have sent mine back directly!!!...it's still sitting at Turner's warehouse until they get a big shipment together and then they will actually send it back to ATI!! Mine has been sitting there since the 2/16!! They said I couldn't get it back and so I could send it myself...what a waste of time!

Metered, when you drill holes in the barrel of the GSG5-SD and put the recalled fake can on...it's -19db.
