    BVAC 22 WMR Ammo Review

I ordered some of this ammo from CheaperThanDirt. A couple of factors made me decide to try this out.

    1. Made in the USA (Bitterroot Valley Ammo Co. out of Montana)
    2. Price: $7 for box of 50 compared to $11 for CCI Maxi-Mag.

Shot with Marlin 925M with Centerpoint 4x14x40 scope and bipod. Weather was calm around 60 degrees.

    The good:

    1. These rounds seemed a little hotter than the CCI. Scope had been zeroed at 75yds using the CCI. The BVAC shot about 2" higher but right on horizontally. Re-zeroed the scope for the BVAC.
    2. Compared it to CCI Maxi-Mag and my groups shrunk by 50% at 75yds. Five rounds blew out the bullseye, all touching. Best with CCI has been 1.5".

    The bad:

    1. Although I did not count exactly I had about 15-20% FTF although all rounds eventually fired. With CCI maybe 1 out of 50.

I only shot 50 rounds so maybe the jury is still out on the FTF issue. I still have 450rounds left to shoot so I'll know more as I shoot more. Right now I'm on the fence about buying more due to the FTF but I do like the accuracy of this ammo compared to the CCI, in my rifle at least. YMMV

Saving $4 per 50 compared to the CCI is also attractive as I shoot a lot of 22 mag. I have emailed the company about the FTF issue but no response as yet.

BVAC $61 at CTD but picked some up at the gun show for $67 out of my single six they seem to be shooting right and high trying to hit cans with it, but the hundred I fired all worked.

Glad to hear they all fired for you. I will be shooting somemore on Monday so I'll see if maybe it was just one box. I did notice they shot 2" high but on center @ 75yds. Re-zeroed my scope and they held steady and shot very accurate. I like the ammo just not the FTF. Hope that changes. I never had any FTF with CCI 22 Mag but I'll check my firing pin anyway.

I've got thousands of these rounds. Good plinking ammo. I shoot them out of a Zastava bolt action. Sometimes has feeding problem, but failure to fire is rare. I had less issues with Winchester and CCI. But BVAC is cheaper.
