    Sig 522 break in

Any tips or suggestions on how to break it in? Is there even a need to do so or can I just hit Wally World and start blazing at the local indoor range? I pick it up on the 8th

My SG522 required NO breakin whatsoever. It fed CCI MiniMags, Federal Bulk, and Winchester bulk with no problems. Give it a good cleaning BEFORE your first shooting session. Make sure that the bolt is fully FORWARD when you take the gun apart.

Ever since I bought my Sig 522 it's been to cold to get to the range. Finally I decided to brave the cold, loaded up 5 magazines with CCI MiniMags and stepped out on a friends back deck to let it rip. 125 rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger, the Sig was flawless. I like it.

Thanks chuck and mag. Wish I could be like mag318 and shoot off the back porch but proximity to a school/church/PD precludes that. Off to the indoor range soon as I pick it up and clean it.

broke mine in w/variety of cheap ammo firing nearly everything for 300+ rounds
got a handful of misfires or non fires/duds from some of the ammo
now i learned today mine doesn't seem to like remingtons' golden bullet. after reloading all magzines w/federal champion, another cheap ammo & it fired & ejected everything from 5 full non cali magazines & 2 cali compliant mags; so around 150 rounds
          not one failure
so greatful to the calgunners that helped w/my decision making process

post up some pics when you get a chance of your new toy

I'm getting a few tips together on the Sig, hopefully to make into one post on what I've found.

One thing on mine was that if I held the bolt handle upward and slowly let the bolt slide forward, the ejector would catch on the bolt face to the point where it would remain there when I released the handle.

I doubt this will cause any problems for most and will probably 'wear in', but possibly at the expense of shaving a bit of material off of the bottom/front of the bolt in the process.

I used a diamond file to break the sharp edge on top of the ejector and formed a small radius at the contact point on the bolt face.
