Since you are 1911 guy, I'd say go with a mkiii 22/45. It's grip angle is a mirror of the 1911, so you'll instantly be familiar with it.

I get to pick up mine next saturday...I hate gun jail!
I agree

      caoboy,

Which " saturday " are you referring to? I am quite interested since it seems to me that the 22/45 is the one for me, but I really don't know yet.

Price wise, I do find the 22/45 very enticing, but I have read also from somewhere that they don't have much aftermarket parts. In its favor, the grip angle they say is close to my 1911s and they are lighter and not too front heavy as compared to the other models in the MK III lineup.

Kindly post a good objective review of your pistol when you can. My birthday is coming soon, I'd like to be able to buy a pistol by the end of March

No after market? Thats just crazy talk! The ruger MK whatever 22/45 is rife with spare parts. Everything that fits the upper of the MKIII will fit the 22/45. The mags are different but not a big deal. THe grip angle is the same as a 1911 but is a little thinner. But the new 22/45 from ruger will have replaceable panels so you can even match the ones you have on your 1911.

I love my 22/45 and its great practice.

Actually, it is Friday, the 12th, at 1:40pm.

Then, I'll have a date with Miss Range. Go to Rimfirecentral.net and look around...there is a 22/45 section.

Anything an Mk3 has aftermarket fits the 22/45, since the only difference is the grip angle.

The only thing I'm planning on doing is probably adding the TT grips (look on rfc.net for those) and maybe a dot sight if I feel like being tacticool.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

so i own a MKII Govt. with the bull barrel, and it has had close to 100,000 rounds down range. the MKIII Target has only had about 10,000 rounds. they eat anything, and just keep running. i like the buckmarks from browning too, but stuff keeps falling off of it, like the slide release, and safety pad.
but for the money, a MKIII is great. enough after market crap to keep you broke for a long time.

Mark III Hunter more accurate and better sights. I had NOTHING buy feeding and extraction problems with my 22A -- the walther is not a target pistol -- but rocks for short range plinking. Hunter Mark III is the way to go.

                      Another Ruger fan here.

I have a MkII target model that I bought used for $240, looks just like this one:

It is the one gun that always goes to the range!

                        Really nice collection!

Where did you pick up those wood grips for the Stainless Steel Model?
